The 2018 Dartford Half Marathon is held under England Athletics Rules, Provisional Licence number: To be confirmed. By entering this event, you are confirming that you have read and understood this Race Information and agree to abide by its provisions.
You enter the race at your own risk and accept that no person(s) or organisation(s) will be held responsible for any accident, injury, illness or loss to you on race day prior to, during, or after the event.
You must not compete in the race unless you are in good health and medically fit to do so.
Your details will be recorded on a computer for race administration purposes only and will not be passed to third parties, other than your name, age grade, club, finishing time and position, for the purpose of publishing the race results on the Internet and elsewhere.
All the information you submit on your Entry Form (whether on-line or by post) must be accurate.
The event is open to runners of 17 years of age or older on race day, and ‘amateur’ as defined by UKA.

Please go to www.nice-work.org.uk, find the Dartford Half Marathon link and follow the prompts. Your successful entry will be confirmed by email to the address you have provided. If you appear not to have received this email, please check your Junk/Trash folder and mark the sender as Safe. On-line entries will close at midnight on Saturday 2nd March 2019. (The on-line system provider may charge a nominal administration fee).
Please go to www.nice-work.org.uk and download an Entry Form. Cpmpleted forms and cheques (not cash, please) may be sent to: Nice Work, Teviot, Malthouse Lane, Peasmarsh, East Sussex TN31 6TA. Postal entries will be accepted until last post on Thursday 28th February 2019 and will be acknowledged by email only. Entries received after this deadline WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. Enquiries may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
These will be accepted in Race HQ from 07:00 hours until the race start time, and up to the maximum limit of 1200 runners. The On-The-Day entry fee, regardless of the runner’s affiliation status, is £30.00. Upon receipt of your entry form and fee, you will be handed your bib number with tear-off baggage label attached, and a separate timing tag.
All UK-affiliated club runners are eligible for the Team Prize automatically, as long as there is a minimum of 8 members of mixed gender, and the affiliated club name is stated on each member’s entry. An unaffiliated Team will also comprise a minimum of 8 runners of mixed gender who are not members of a UK-affiliated club, as long as the Team Name is entered on all team members’ entry forms/on-line. Please ensure you have sufficient members to comprise a team, before entering your team name.
Directions By Rail
The nearest main line train station is Dartford (visit www.nationalrail.co.uk for times). The race venue is approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the station through the town centre and Central Park. It is suggested you plan to arrive at Dartford Station no less than one hour before the race start time, to allow sufficient time to walk from the station to the race venue and to prepare for your race (including entering on the day if you have not done so in advance).
Directions By Car
At the south-bound Dartford Crossing, leave the M25 at Junction 2; take the A225 towards Dartford on Princes Road; straight across next roundabout (junction w/Green Street Green Road & Park Road), then down the hill on Princes Road. Turn right into Lowfield Street and follow the signs to Dartford Town Centre. Cranford road is second on the right. See Car Parking below for parking information.
Parking shall be in Acacia Hall Car Park with access via Darenth Road. There is no parking at Dartford Harriers AC, nor in Central Park’s own public car park as this is part of the race route. However, the following link will guide you to nearby Dartford Council-operated public car parks: http://www.dartford.gov.uk/by-category/transport-and-streets/parking/pay-and-display-car-parks-and-on-street-pay-and-display-bays. (Charges may still apply at other pay & display car parks – please read the notices carefully). Although there is some free parking in roads around Central Park, please note that our closest neighbours live in narrow roads with terraced houses, so many of the spaces are taken up by residents. Please park considerately. Please do not park in the Fairfield Leisure car park.
Registration on race day is not necessary. Race HQ will be open to runners from 07:00 hours: just turn up, (enter the event, where applicable), prepare for your race – and run!!
Bib Numbers; Timing Tags
Race bibs (with a tear-off luggage label attached) and a separate timing tag for your shoe will be posted approximately 2 weeks before race day; all runners will be sent an email to confirm dispatch. At the request of SE Medical, our First Aid provider, please enter all relevant medical information on the reverse of the number before you pin it to your running top.
There will be a baggage store on the infield. Remove the tear-off baggage label from your bib number, attach it to your bag (or key fob if you just wish to deposit your car keys) before handing it at the baggage tent. Baggage may be reclaimed at the end of the race, ONLY on production of the corresponding bib number. Although this area will be supervised at all times, the organisers cannot accept any responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, personal belongings.
Please lace your timing tag to one of your shoes. Ties are not provided as the tag will not need to be removed at the end – you may keep it as an additional race memento!
Refreshments, male/female/accessible changing rooms, toilets and showers are in the clubhouse. Additional portable toilets will be situated at the rear of the clubhouse in the car park. Sports massage will be available on the infield for a reasonable fee. You may wish to bring a small amount of money with you as we are endeavouring to commission various other outlets for the event, eg, sportswear, burgers, etc).
Blind and Visually Impaired Runners
The organisers may be able to enlist volunteers from local running clubs who are willing to act as guide runners to visually impaired or blind competitors. If you are visually impaired or blind, please contact us via the event email address above and we will try to assist; however, we cannot guarantee this service (for which there is no charge).
Toilets along the Route
The organisers have made no arrangements for the provision of toilets en route but there are ample at Race HQ. Some householders and pubs along the route have been happy in the past to allow runners the use of their toilet facilities.
Half Marathon Race Start – 09:30am, promptly
At 09:20am, runners will be called to assemble in their appropriate time zones behind the start line in Central Park. The route starts on the perimeter footpath of the park before exiting onto the public highway. Please listen for announcements and follow marshals’ directions. It is every runner’s responsibility to ensure they pass over the mats at the start and finish lines in order to obtain a finish time, receive a race memento and, potentially, to qualify for a prize.
The route and its management have been planned and agreed with Kent Highways, the Police and the appointed event Traffic Management Company; marshals will be in place along the route, including road crossing points. Therefore, all directions must be followed by all runners for their own and others road users’ safety. Please do not deviate from the route for any reason. This is a rural route: please be considerate towards horses and riders if you encounter any in the roads and lanes.
Personal Stereo Equipment
UK Athletics has recently changed their ruling regarding headphones. They should not be worn where runners are on roads open to traffic. As this course is on largely open roads, we will be enforcing this rule and no headphones will be allowed, except the bone induction type but the volume must be kept low. Water & Sponges
Water and sponge stations will be at various points along the route and also at the finish.
First Aid support is being provided by SE Medical and will be available along the route and at the end. If you have any medical conditions, please enter details on the reverse of your race number. You must not hesitate to report to the First Aid staff if you feel unwell at any time before, during or at the end of the race, before leaving the race venue.
Withdrawal from the event before the start
If you decide to withdraw from the Dartford Half Marathon before race day, you must do so by email to: email@example.com. You will be entitled to a deferred place in 2018 at no further cost.
If you arrive at the race venue on the day and decide to withdraw, please hand in your race envelope with contents at the On-The-Day Entries desk. You will be entitled to a deferred place in 2018 at no further cost.
Deferred places can be carried over only once.
Withdrawal from the event during the race
Deferred places and race mementoes are not available to runners who cross the start mat but who fail to finish; such runners will be assisted back to Race HQ, if they wish.
If you cross the start mat then later feel unable to complete the race – and choose to make your own way home (eg, by taking a lift from a supporter) – it is VITAL that you advise a marshal of your withdrawal. This will be conveyed to the race organisers, who will be saved the task of sending out a search party for you, when you are at home enjoying the day’s other sporting events on TV!
Runners who fail to start (without providing prior notice of withdrawal) or who notify withdrawal after the race commences, are not entitled to a deferred place, other than in exceptional circumstances (please send full details to the above email address as soon as possible after the event).
Entry Fees; Transfer of Numbers
Entry fees are not refundable under any circumstances.
For safety reasons and in accordance with UKA regulations, YOUR RACE NUMBER IS NOT TRANSFERABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, as this can lead to inaccurate results, incorrect awarding of prizes, medical emergencies and ‘false alarms’.
All race facilities, including route marshals, mobile first aiders, etc, will be in place, as appropriate, for 3 hours after the start time. After this time, marshals will start to stand down, closed roads will re-open and runners will be responsible for their own safety when crossing roads, etc. However, there will be a sweeper vehicle/runner/ cyclist behind the last competitor to assist or advise. Facilities at the end will remain in place until at least 14:00 hours and a race memento will still be available to all finishers.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD RUNNERS RE-CROSS THE FINISH LINE once they have completed their own race (eg, by doubling back to encourage a slower chum), as this will distort all subsequent finish positions and results. In such an event, the later of the offending runner’s two finish times will be recorded as his/her official finish time.
Presentation & Results
The presentation of prizes is scheduled to take place at 12:00 noon in front of the clubhouse. Provisional results will be displayed in the clubhouse as they become available. Final, verified results will be published on the Dartford Harriers AC web site as soon as possible after the race.
Race Mementos & Prizes
All finishers will receive a race medal. Prizes will be awarded to: 1st Individual Male; 1st Individual Female; 1st Males over 40, 50 and 60; 1st Females over 35, 45 and 55; 1st Team (8 members of mixed gender to qualify). Each runner is eligible for one prize only; in the event of a runner qualifying for more than one prize, the one with the highest value will be awarded.
Please be sure you are fit to run, before starting your race.

Check the weather forecast and wear appropriate kit. If you choose to wear an outer jacket, remember to expose your bib number – both at the end, and if you spot a photographer en route!!
A Fun Run will take place on the Dartford Harriers AC track, starting at 10:00am, and is open to all ages and abilities. The course is approximately one mile, comprising 4 laps of the track, so it is entirely enclosed and off-road. The entry fee is £3.00 on-the-day only, and all finishers will receive a race memento. The Entry Desk will be on the infield, not in the Club House. All proceeds go to DHAC’s designated charity.
